Entry #156: Africa, by Frank Leder

Awesome! What a great designer.

Entry #155: "there is a lie being told, the same lie we all know by heart "

I am reeling from the virility of no sleep and no coffee!

But oh! Last night I went shopping with Benner + sister and what times these are my heart.

I bought pants of the most charming kind. New & old, the latter I like more. Unfortunately—the sizes are all wack, homie!

For instance—the modern set is a stately size 26 and I believe in my hearts of hearts it is actually a 27/28 because it is too loose.

The wiser set is marked as size 24, and I believe certain parts are… but the back where the darts are = too loose, and the waist area is too small. Whose body is this??! It’s been hard to find my size pants lately because I’m currently all fat and no muscles AND because sizes are changing without my consultation. There really should be some standardization in this industry. False hope dies fast.

Entry #154: Worker Wear, way outta my league

But I still own you!

So to add to my growing collection of work wear, I got a pair of super hot Rag & Bone pants... as featured in Entry #31.

Along with my Helmut Lang pants (still my favorite of all) my work wear pants collection gives the allusion that I'm making it (totally not). Hrm. I can't believe it's been 1.5 years and where am I now? Still in Los Angeles! There will be cha-cha-changes.

Entry #151: Working Bee Gets the Honey

Tonight I met the cutest little Japanese girl. She was four and did the whole holding her hand up with four fingers thang.

Below are pictures from the magazine publisher, Hebon, in 1956.

Entry #147: And We Look Up

Kids are too accomplished these days. Twenty-three-year-old Briton to 'make chicks tick' for Ungaro

I look forward to seeing this...Viktor & Rolf to Design Bags for Samsonite

Spring and Patterns: Patterns for H&M '08 Lookin Good.

Are you kidding me? They take from the street already?? Everything has been done before, did they not get the memo? A bill pending in the Senate would protect the style of a garment, and not just the logo, under copyright.

Noteworthy quote:

Ilse Metchek, executive director of the California Fashion Assn., a nonprofit organization based in downtown Los Angeles, called pattern-making "a craft, not an art. There is only so much you can do with a silhouette, a collar, a drape. For the little designers who have that one great idea and it's knocked off -- well, welcome to the real world, guys. Make another one."

Entry #146: Clearly, Hollywood

Entry #145: The Debunking of Youth

Edna St. Vincent Millay, who won a Pulitzer Prize for her poetry in the 1920s, famously captured the romantic, desparate side to "Flaming Youth":

MY CANDLE burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends--
It gives a lovely light!

Entry #144: The Ghost of You

I adore Lunna Menoh's work. She designed the clothes for the Murakami party that was thrown for Marc Jacobs and sponsored by LV. Not sure how that all fits together but whatever the deal, I like her work and she is also the sweetest character ever (seriously, these Asian women are pulling my heart-- how are they so perfect??!)-- and I had no idea she did all.this.when I first met her & her husband. So yaay- I'm excited to announce that Lunna Menoh will have a show at The Academy (2nd week of January)! Check out her website here.

Entry #143: History Repeats Itself

My historical reproduction class is going to be AMAZING. I can feel it coming in the air tonight… (hold on!)

Entry #143: Spinning Lady Determines Life Path You Should Take

THE Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

I am Clockwise/Right Brain. I was able to see counterclockwise but it gave me a huge headache.

Entry #141: Lessons in Love 101

The Blue Hearts-- Linda, Linda, Linda.

I think I like punk more and more as the days go. First, it was my adventures at PTP... and then slowly but surely my taste in men.

Entry #140: Pockets of happiness.

My girl MB gave me a rather hot pair of jodhpurs last year and I’ve been on a bidding binge for a not-for-riding but totally fierce fashionista version lately—

I really want one and feel like it may be somewhere in Japan… but apparently GAP UK makes a style that is wholly and totally Legit. But I can’t find ya. Show yourself!
